Fashion History - 1793
Marie Antoinette heads to the guillotine wearing a brand-new white dress, a white scarf around her shoulders, and a pleated white cap on her prematurely white hair (she's only 37). Spectators are stunned, because she's been wearing the same ratty black mourning gown for the past two months in prison. It appears that she's saved this outfit in her prison cell for the day of her execution, determined to go out with a fashion bang.
